A huge THANK YOU to all who came out on May 19, 2013 to our launch party for Face to Face! This was not a fundraiser, but we did receive right around $1,800 in donations for our project. This will provide three portraits to families or individuals who have lost a loved one to a sudden or tragic death. Not coincidentally, this Wine and Cheese Celebration took place on the one year anniversary of my husband’s death and the wedding of our son Ryan and his wife Katie. This event was attended by close to 100 people and was a far better use of our time than being depressed and down remembering how difficult the day was last year. We honored Chris by presenting a portrait to the Kevin Huseman family in memory of their wonderful son, Brandon Huseman. Brandon was senselessly murdered on Thanksgiving Day 2011 and left a wife and his family of origin to mourn his loss- he was only 26 years old and yet his life was full of meaning and even his death has touched many lives. We also presented a portrait to Ray Bennett of his wife Lisa. She was my sister and died rather suddenly of a brain tumor on March 17, 2012. We know that Lisa and Brandon were watching over us that day and it is our hope that these portraits will help their families by reminding them what wonderful people Brandon and Lisa were. Chris’ portrait was also present and one recently completed of my mother- Earline White. It was as if they nodded in approval at what Face to Face is doing, and everyone had a good time.
